Pantumaca is a phonetic transcription of the Catalan “Pa amb tomaquet” that means “Bread and tomato”. Contrary to what you could think. it is not natural sliced tomato in french bread. Pantumaca is made by rubbing a tomato cut in half over the bread (usually toasted) and it’s very popular in Catalonia where the studio is located in the city of Barcelona.
